Ukraine-Moldova border post closed after Russian drone strike

A Russian drone strike damaged the Tabaki international border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova during overnight attacks on August 21 across the Odessa region. Border authorities have suspended all passenger and freight transit, diverting vehicles to alternative checkpoints.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the attack targeted the Bolhrad and Izmail districts. The strikes damaged administrative buildings and crossing infrastructure, triggering fires that were later brought under control by the State Emergency Service.
Alternative routes advised
Ukrainian authorities have notified their Moldovan counterparts regarding the closure. Transit through the Tabaki facility remains halted until further notice.
Officials advise commercial carriers and travelers to adjust transit routes and plan cross-border journeys through nearby operational checkpoints.
