Fire breaks out near central market in Moldovan capital

Firefighters in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau responded to a major blaze on Monday morning after flames engulfed a three-story commercial building near the city's Central Market.
Emergency response mobilized
Emergency dispatch received the 112 call at 11:07 a.m. local time, prompting authorities to declare an elevated intervention alert. According to witnesses, a barber shop operated inside the affected premises on Armenească Street.
“Specialized crews deployed to the scene under an elevated intervention tier, establishing three operational sectors to contain and extinguish the fire,” Moldova's General Emergency Situations Inspectorate (IGSU) said in a statement.
Multiple firefighting teams contained the blaze as smoke spread across the surrounding downtown commercial district. No casualties were immediately reported as emergency personnel worked to secure the area.
