Five-hour wait, no refueling: Gasoline crisis in Perm after drone attack
"You wait 5 hours and you can't refuel." Huge queues formed at gas stations in Perm after one of Russia's largest refineries shut down, reports Astra.
"People are exhausted, and the situation is becoming increasingly alarming. Instead of getting a good night's sleep, many are spending half the night waiting in line for gas, unsure if they will even be able to refuel before the supply runs out. How did we end up in this predicament, where residents of a city with an oil refinery have to push their cars to the gas station at night?" a local woman shared on social media.
The day before, the largest gas station network in the Perm region, NeftehimProm, halved the maximum amount of gasoline that can be purchased. Thus, the limit was reduced from 80 to 40 liters.
Perm is home to one of Russia's largest oil refineries, LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez (PNOS), with a projected annual oil processing capacity of 13.1 million tons. The refinery is one of the region's main industrial facilities and one of Russia's most technologically advanced, supplying fuel to both the domestic market and export destinations.
PNOS suspended its operations after a Ukrainian drone attack on August 21, according to Reuters. Earlier, Astra published photos of repair work on the refinery's AVT-4 and AVT-5 units, damaged in previous Ukrainian attacks.
The enterprise has also been repeatedly attacked by drones.
