BCS deputies request constitutional review of some provisions of the Law on external evaluation of judges and candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice

A new application has been submitted to the Constitutional Court. Bloc of Communists and Socialists MPs Vlad Batrîncea and Adrian Albu request a constitutional review of certain provisions of the Law on the external evaluation of magistrates and candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice.

According to the Socialist MPs, there is an attempt to bring into the system inexperienced people who can be controlled and manipulated politically, and these actions could violate the principle of separation of powers in the state and the independence of the judiciary.

On 30 March, a legislative initiative was voted on, which provides for the external evaluation of the judges of the SCJ by a commission, based on information on the ethical and financial integrity of judges.
