Russian drone strikes hit near Polish border in western Ukraine
Russian drones struck transport infrastructure just 800 meters from the Polish border on Saturday morning, damaging a truck and a passenger train locomotive without causing casualties, officials said.
Strikes near Yahodyn crossing
The Polish Border Guard confirmed that an unmanned aerial vehicle hit a cargo truck approximately 800 meters from the frontier near the Yahodyn–Dorohusk crossing point. State rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia said a separate drone strike damaged a passenger train locomotive two kilometers from the border, while public broadcaster Suspilne reported damage to an adjacent fuel station. Ukrainian border officials clarified that the border crossing facilities sustained no direct impact.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the proximity of the barrage to allied territory. “This is Putin’s terror knocking right on the doors of the EU and NATO,” Sybiha said. “Russian barbarians are already at your gates, dear partners.”
Widespread night raids across southern and central Ukraine
The border strikes followed overnight Russian drone and missile barrages targeting southern and central Ukrainian regions. In Odesa, a drone hit a depot of postal operator Nova Poshta, injuring two employees, while falling debris damaged an apartment building and wounded several civilians.
A warehouse fire broke out in the Boryspil district near Kyiv following intercepted strikes, emergency services reported. Further south, air raids on the port city of Mykolaiv triggered localized blackouts across several municipal districts after critical electrical infrastructure was damaged.
