World record in Bucharest: 20,000 people gathered at one table for charity
Romania has made its mark in the Guinness World Records for two incredible achievements: the longest table made from recycled materials and the largest gathering of kind-hearted individuals. This unique event took place in Bucharest, where 20,000 people came together at one table to raise funds to build the country's first pediatric psychiatric hospital.

The flower-adorned tables formed a long line stretching approximately five kilometers—running along Unirii Boulevard all the way to Constitution Square, in front of the Palace of the Parliament. Beyond the satisfaction of participating in a record-breaking event, people also enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to a good cause.
“I have a 19-year-old daughter who is suffering from depression. I decided to help because I know what it’s like.”
“I’m just a student, but I want to donate some of what little I have—I believe it’s a wonderful thing to give back.”
“Whenever I hear the term ‘humanitarian support,’ I contribute—whether for animals, since they are living beings too—non-verbal, yes, but still living beings—and especially for any humanitarian efforts.”
The organizers expressed that the event posed significant logistical challenges but also served as an opportunity to raise awareness about an important issue: there is currently no hospital in Romania dedicated to treating children with mental illnesses. Although construction of such a facility began last year, the costs are substantial, totaling 16.5 million euros.
"I believe that those who are able to donate should do so, and those in need should receive assistance. I'm not asking people to contribute financially; I'm simply asking them to pay attention to our cause—perhaps by sharing a post. There are many ways to help, including volunteering," said organizer Codin Maticiuc.
Romania has previously hosted this event. Last year, around 10,000 people gathered at tables extending 2.8 kilometers in Alba Iulia in an effort to set a world record.
