VIDEO | Two Moldovan citizens die in a fatal accident in Vaslui county

Two citizens from the Republic of Moldova lost their lives in a traffic accident on the morning of September 14, near the municipality of Bârlad in Vaslui County, Romania. The car they were in collided with a semi-truck, resulting in the victims— a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man—being trapped in the wreckage.

The accident occurred on the Bârlad bypass road, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), which cited information from the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Iași.

Emergency response teams, including two extrication vehicles, a first-aid medical team, and a SMURD crew, quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters worked to free two individuals from the car, but unfortunately, they had sustained fatal injuries.

Their deaths were pronounced at the scene of the accident.

The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police stated that the collision involved a car and a semi-truck. Traffic in both directions on the Bârlad bypass was temporarily halted to allow emergency crews to carry out their operations.

"The Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Iași has contacted the families of the deceased, is maintaining communication with the relevant Romanian authorities, and is providing necessary consular assistance. Furthermore, the Consulate will help the families complete the formalities required for repatriating the bodies to the Republic of Moldova," the MFA stated.

Authorities in the Republic of Moldova will investigate the accident's causes and circumstances.
