The most dangerous roads in Moldova will be repaired to prevent accidents
Drivers traveling through the Ștefan Vodă, Orhei, and Hâncești districts will benefit from safer roads after the National Road Administration (AND) launched a tender to upgrade five critical sections classified as "black spots." The planned interventions involve complex work, ranging from roadway rehabilitation to installing safety barriers and building sidewalks.
The works are planned for five sections of national roads.
These include the R30 section (Anenii Noi – Căușeni – Ștefan Vodă – Ukraine border) between km 55+700 and km 56+700, as well as three sections of the R6 road (Chișinău – Orhei – Bălți): km 47+300 – km 48+300, km 35+500 – km 36+500, and km 33+000 – km 34+000.
The fifth section is on the R3 road (Chișinău – Hâncești – Cimișlia – Basarabeasca – Ukraine border), between km 28+800 and km 29+800.
"These sections, identified as 'black spots,' are areas of the road network with an increased risk of accidents," the AND states.
According to the authority, the interventions are tailored to each section's specific characteristics and aim to reduce risk factors for road users.
The planned works include rehabilitating the roadway and intersections, earthworks and drainage improvements, installing safety barriers and road signs, applying road markings, and constructing sidewalks.
The tender will be conducted via a national competitive procurement process, using the Request for Bids (RFB) method for "Small Works."
Eligible economic operators may submit their bids at the AND headquarters by 10:00 AM on November 9, 2026. ***
The procurement process is being conducted under the Moldova Rural Connectivity Project, financed by the World Bank.
