Residents of UTA Găgăuzia elect their mayor today
Residents of UTA Găgăuzia are expected today at the polls to choose their mayor, as well as deputies from the electoral constituencies of Vulcănești and Cioc-Maidan. During yesterday, the ballots were distributed, printed in three languages: Romanian, Russian and Gagauz, and 65 polling stations were set up in the 26 localities.
In order to validate the elections for the position of mayor, no less than 50% of the voters, out of the more than 92 thousand registered on the electoral lists, must come to the polls.
Eight candidates entered the race for the position of mayor. It is about Nicolai Dudoglo, Grigorii Uzun, Mihail Formuzal, Victor Petrov, Dumitru Croitor, Serghei Cernev, Evghenia Guțul and Serghei Cimpoies. The winner will get a four-year term.
The Central Electoral Commission accredited 75 international observers to monitor the regional elections in the UTA Gagauzia .
