Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Germany has allocated a substantial aid package to Ukraine worth over €1.3 billion, reports Ukrainska Pravda, as cited by BBC News.

Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced the package at a joint press conference in Kyiv.

According to Zelenskyy, Germany's package includes funds to produce new interceptors to counter attack drones.

"It involves weapons that will help right now, as well as support for our energy sector. This is very important," Zelenskyy said.

For his part, Friedrich Merz stated that approximately 350 million euros would be allocated to support Ukraine's energy sector.

"This will rapidly and significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defense, and this reinforcement is urgently needed. [...] All of this will help mitigate the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and, above all, help the Ukrainian people get through the coming winter," the German Chancellor declared.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kyiv on the morning of October 4 for an unannounced visit. This is the German head of government's first visit to Ukraine since May 2025.
