General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine: At least 443 children have died and another 855 have been injured since the beginning of the Russian invasion

Since the beginning of the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine, at least 1,298 children have suffered. Of these, at least 443 lost their lives and another 855 were injured. Data in this regard were reported by the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine on Saturday, December 10.

In almost ten months of war, according to the cited source, 13,112 children were deported from Ukraine, while 327 disappeared without a trace. Ukrainian authorities managed to find 8,086 children and return 119 of them to Ukraine, according to the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine.

According to the source, the most affected children come from Donetsk regions - 426, Kharkiv - 267, Kiev - 117, Zaporozhye - 78, Nikolaev - 77, Kherson - 70, Chernigov - 68, Luhansk - 65 and Dnepropetrovsk region - 33 children.

The Ukrainian authorities announce that the figures are not final, as work is ongoing to establish them in the places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

Meanwhile, since the start of the war in Ukraine, 2,719 educational institutions have been damaged by bombing, 332 of which have been completely destroyed.

TRM.MD recalls that the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine in the spring of this year, in what they later called "a special mission of denazification and demilitarisation". The war started by Moscow was harshly criticised by the international community, including the Republic of Moldova. Recently, the European Union proposed the 9th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, following the military invasion launched on Ukrainian territory.
