The first 120,000 flu vaccine doses have arrived in Moldova

The first 120,000 doses of influenza vaccine—out of a total of 240,000 doses procured for the 2026–2027 cold season—have arrived in the Republic of Moldova. The shipment has been stored at the National Vaccine Depot of the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) and is set to be distributed to public health centers for the immunization of individuals at high risk of illness.
The influenza vaccine is trivalent and supplied in a pre-filled syringe containing a 0.5-milliliter dose. It provides protection against seasonal influenza caused by the A(H1N1), A(H3N2), and B(Tokyo) viruses.
"The composition complies with World Health Organization recommendations for use in the Northern Hemisphere for the 2026–2027 influenza season," the ANSP stated in a press release.

The public is encouraged to contact their family doctor for information regarding the free influenza vaccination. Priority for receiving the vaccine is given to individuals at high risk of illness. These include pregnant women, people with underlying health conditions, and workers in sectors with an increased risk of infection. Others who wish to be vaccinated will be accommodated, subject to stock availability.
"Experts reiterate that vaccination is the safest and most effective method for preventing influenza. Benefits of vaccination include a reduced risk of severe illness, as well as a decrease in the number of cases, doctor visits, and days lost from work or school," states the ANSP press release.
The Ministry of Health and the ANSP recommend simultaneous vaccination against seasonal influenza and other routine vaccines—or those administered based on epidemiological indications, such as Td (tetanus-diphtheria) for adults, pneumococcal, and COVID-19 vaccines—to ensure protection against multiple infections at once.
Last year, the National Health Insurance Company also procured 240,000 doses of influenza vaccine. Vaccination began in October.
