Reaction of the Presidency to accusations made by MP Marina Tauber against Maia Sandu
Every person is obliged to respect the legal provisions of the Republic of Moldova, and any misconduct or violation must be sanctioned according to the law by the competent institutions, Irina Gotisan, spokeswoman for President Maia Sandu, told Radio Moldova.
The reaction comes after Marina Tauber, in a video intervention at the airport, anticipated her detention today and said that the authorities, including the head of state, would resort to this measure because she continues to criticize them.
Marina Tauber was detained today at Chisinau International Airport. She was planning to leave for Tel Aviv, Israel.
Anti-corruption prosecutors argued that she had violated the conditions of the preventive measures imposed on her.
The defendant's lawyer, Aureliu Colenco, later said that Marina Tauber's detention was illegal. Marina Tauber is charged on two counts - knowingly accepting party funding from an organised criminal group and falsifying the Sor Party's financial management report.
