Andrzej Duda: Moldova's accession to the European Union will be one of the priorities of the Polish EU Council Presidency

One of Poland's priorities during the EU Council Presidency will be the accession of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. The statement was made in an interview for the Polish press by Polish President Andrzej Duda. He also said that his country is in favour of an "open door" policy, so the EU should also accept the countries of the Western Balkans.

Poland will preside over the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2025. On 23 June last year, the Republic of Moldova, along with Ukraine, was granted candidate country status for EU membership. The authorities in Chisinau said the decision taken by all 27 European leaders at the EU Council summit was historic and opened a new chapter in the country's history.
