Four unauthorized overflights of Moldova’s airspace occurred overnight

Four cases of unauthorized overflight of the Republic of Moldova’s airspace were recorded during the night of October 15–16, amid massive attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine. According to the National Army’s Air Operations Center, the drones entered the national airspace from the direction of Ukraine and subsequently left the country’s territory.

The first drone entered the Republic of Moldova's airspace at 23:02, coming from the direction of Timcovo in the Odesa region and heading toward Ivanovca. At 23:20, it exited the airspace near Bronit, in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi region of Ukraine.

A second drone was detected at 03:37, approaching from Starokazachye, Ukraine, toward Tudora, Republic of Moldova. One minute later, it exited the national airspace along the same trajectory.

A third incident was recorded at 03:46, along the Mohyliv-Podilskyi–Otaci axis. At 03:48, the aerial object left the airspace of the Republic of Moldova via the area near Hădărăuți, in the Ocnița district.

At 05:59, a fourth drone was detected moving from Starokazachye toward Căplani. At 06:00, it exited national airspace near Olănești; however, at 06:09, it re-entered the Republic of Moldova, passing over Purcari in the Ștefan Vodă district.

One minute later, the drone exited the national airspace via Dnestrovsc, in the Transnistrian region, heading toward Hradenytsi, Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova has been entered 99 times by drones. The Ministry of Defense condemns these incidents, which have occurred against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and in the vicinity of the Republic of Moldova’s border. According to the authorities, any drone that enters the national airspace without authorization poses a danger to the country’s security, as well as a threat to the lives and well-being of its citizens.
