Theatre in Cahul is hosting the third "Theatre Without Borders" International Festival with performances and discussions

"Wings of Childhood" is the theme of this year's edition of the "Theater Without Borders" International Festival, which is being hosted by the "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu" Theater in Cahul until October 26.

Actors, directors, and theater professionals are coming and going in Cahul these days. Meetings and discussions fill the schedule, while one of the most heartwarming sights is the large number of children attending the performances.

The festival’s geographic reach reflects diversity and the idea of theatre without borders. Companies from Romania, Ukraine, Poland, and Turkey are participating, with performances scheduled in succession through October 26th.

In this way, Cahul residents gain access to culture, beauty, and emotional experiences.

Actors from the "Căluțul de Mare" (The Little Seahorse) Theatre for Children and Youth in Constanța, Romania, have already taken the stage at the "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu" Theatre in Cahul.

Additionally, the Dramatic Puppet Theatre from Silistra, Bulgaria, has already presented a performance in Bulgarian. Children who speak Bulgarian, Gagauz, Ukrainian, Russian, and Romanian attended the event.

Most productions this year come from Romania; the "Anton Pann" Theatre from Râmnicu Vâlcea has already presented a performance to the audience.

However, the festival encompasses more than just performances; the program includes meetings, debates, and dialogues regarding the theatrical landscape—both locally and globally—as well as the purpose of theatre today and the vivid emotion that can only arise from the direct, unmediated encounter between actor and spectator.

On the first day of the festival, Adrian Găzdaru, artistic director of the "Metropolis" Theatre in Bucharest, spoke about the essence of "living" theatre and the power of this miraculous art form to evoke emotion.

The program also included a meeting with Vlad Vasiliu—an actor, director, and playwright from Galați—as well as a book launch by Galați-based writer Cornel Teodoru, reported Radio Moldova journalist Alina Chiriac-Ivașcu from Cahul.

The festival also featured a heartfelt meeting with Alexandru Manoil, a literary secretary, theatre critic, and remarkable chronicler.

The "Theatre Without Borders" International Festival is in its third edition.
