Moldova pitches logistics hub to Ukrainian business

Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan urged over 100 Ukrainian entrepreneurs in Kyiv on Monday to expand production in Moldova to access European Union markets, his office said.
Logistics bridge to Romania and EU market
Speaking during a business forum alongside Natalia Bejan, head of state agency Invest Moldova, Tofan presented the country as an operational manufacturing and transit platform. Representatives from major Ukrainian corporations attended the talks, including supermarket chain ATB, household goods manufacturer Biosphere, and pet food producer Kormotech.
“Our message was simple: come invest in Moldova, produce here, create jobs, and use our country as a platform towards Romania and the EU market,” Tofan said on social media. He stressed that Chișinău is prepared to develop warehousing facilities to shield Ukrainian supply chains from ongoing Russian attacks.

Transport expansion and fiscal footprint
Tofan also met with the leadership of parcel delivery giant Nova Post to discuss expanding transport infrastructure and deploying innovative logistics solutions in Moldova. The company currently employs roughly 650 people in the country and contributed over €3.1 million (approx. 60 million MDL) in taxes during 2025.
Nova Post co-founder Volodymyr Popereshnyuk was born in Chișinău, establishing what Tofan described as a strong personal connection to the country. Nova Group, which operates across multiple countries, employs tens of thousands of staff and generates annual revenues exceeding $1 billion.

Economic dividends and regional security
The prime minister underlined that attracting capital must deliver measurable economic benefits through expanded factory networks, higher export volumes, and well-paid local employment. “For us, the result must be very concrete: more factories, warehouses and logistics hubs, more exports, more taxes paid here, and well-paid jobs for the people of Moldova,” Tofan concluded.

During his working visit on Oct. 26, Tofan held talks with Ukrainian officials on expanding bilateral trade, investment opportunities and energy cooperation, including potential natural gas imports from Ukraine. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi and his Ukrainian counterpart also signed a bilateral military-technical cooperation agreement in Kyiv to reinforce regional defense capabilities.
