Moldova to host Rugby Europe General Assembly

Published

Moldova’s capital, Chisinau, will host the Rugby Europe General Assembly for the first time on December 3-5, bringing together 140 officials and 49 national federation presidents at the Palace of the Republic.

A competitive bid

The capital won the right to organize the annual event after competing directly with Croatia. The decision follows a successful evaluation of the country's hosting capabilities.

“Croatia nearly took this opportunity from us,” said Anatol Curechi, president of the Moldovan Rugby Federation. “Ultimately, the European Federation president visited in August during the European Beach Rugby Championship. He saw our infrastructure and hotels, listened to our organizational plan, and now we are glad Chisinau will host this beautiful event.”

Last year, the assembly took place in Alicante, Spain, after being held in Paris for three consecutive years.
