In recent weeks, several drone-related incidents have been reported within the territory of the Republic of Moldova, amid Russian attacks on Ukraine. On November 4, an aircraft entered the country's airspace without authorization, crossing the Transnistrian region near the town of Camenca. The drone left Moldovan territory approximately two minutes later, near the village of Vărăncău in Soroca district.
Previously, on October 31, two other drones flew over the country, prompting authorities to temporarily restrict airspace in the northern and central parts of the Republic of Moldova. On October 23, a "Geran-4" type drone, carrying an explosive payload, crashed near the village of Chiștelnița in the Telenești district; it was subsequently destroyed in a controlled operation. Another aircraft crashed and exploded on October 16 in Dondușeni district. According to data presented by the Ministry of Defence, 19 violations of the Republic of Moldova’s airspace were recorded in the month of October alone, and in six instances, drones exploded upon impact with the ground.
