MP Marina Tauber remains under house arrest
The deputy of the "Sor" party, Marina Tauber, remains under house arrest, according to today's decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal. The appeals filed by the prosecutor and lawyers were rejected. The deputy declared, before the meeting, that her arrest is illegal and is motivated by the elections in Gagauzia, to prevent her from participating in the electoral campaign.
We remind you that, on May 6, Marina Tauber, under house arrest, was registered by the electoral authority from Comrat as the official representative of the candidate Evghenia Guțul in the elections for the position of mayor of Gagauzia.
We remind that Marina Tauber was detained on May 1, at Chisinau International Airport, when she was planning to leave for Israel. The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office declares that the arrest was based "on the order of the prosecutor from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, also issued that day, on the grounds that the accused violated the conditions stipulated by the preventive measures applied to her".
On May 2, the magistrates of the Chisinau Court based in Ciocana decided that Marina Tauber will return to house arrest for the next 20 days.
