President Maia Sandu discussed with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, the progress of bilateral cooperation and the help that the Republic of Moldova can receive to increase its resilience in the face of challenges in our region.

"I mentioned the expertise, training and assistance we need to develop our defense and national security sector. We thanked the Prime Minister for the help we received last year to better manage the refugee crisis", said the head of state, who is on an official visit to Canada.

Canada co-chairs, together with Germany, the Working Group on the humanitarian situation of refugees in our country, within the Ministerial Conferences of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova.

Maia Sandu also discussed solving the problems of the Moldovan diaspora in Canada and thanked the Canadian Prime Minister for appreciating the activities of the citizens in the host country.

"I also expressed my gratitude for Canada's unconditional support to Ukraine in this brutal war, and the resistance and courage of our neighbors protects us as well," concluded Maia Sandu.
