The Chisinau Municipal Council approved new provisional water tariffs
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) approved the tariff increase for the public water supply service. The new tariffs are provisional and enter into force with the publication of the decision in the local mass media. According to a voted amendment, they will apply until the opinion is issued by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), reports IPN.
According to the project, for domestic consumers, the average tariff calculated for the public drinking water supply service will be 16.32 lei/㎥, and for the sewage service – 6.62 lei, respectively, in total – 22.94 lei.
For non-household consumers, the tariff of 16.32 lei for water and 10.26 lei for sewage was approved, in total – 26.58 lei, to which VAT is added.
Present at the CMC meeting, the mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, declared that these adjustments are necessary in terms of operational expenses, including electricity. However, the electricity tariff has increased significantly, and the water tariff in Chisinau still remains the lowest. According to him, kindergartens, schools, other social institutions, but also the inhabitants cannot remain without water.
