Maia Sandu discussed cooperation with the United States in Chicago with several American officials
On the sidelines of the Moldovan-American Convention in Chicago, Head of State Maia Sandu held a series of meetings. The president met with Democratic Senator Dick Durbin and Republican Congressman Mike Lawler, with whom she discussed good cooperation and Moldovan-American friendship, the Moldovan Presidency reports.
The officials also discussed security challenges in the region and how they affect Moldova. They also discussed how the United States can help the country cope more easily with current challenges. On this occasion, the President thanked for the assistance the Republic of Moldova has received in 30 years of working together for a stronger democracy.
President Maia Sandu also spoke with Erin McKee, USAID's Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Europe and Eurasia Office, about the assistance the organization has provided over the years, and especially since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Likewise, there was also talk of new funding opportunities to help the government accelerate democratic consolidation and economic growth through infrastructure, transportation and energy resilience projects.
President Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude for the support provided through USAID by the US government for the growth of Moldova's democracy and economy. With USAID's support we have developed key areas of the economy such as information technologies and creative industries, the agricultural and wine sectors, light industry, and the business environment.
