President Maia Sandu met in Reykjavik with her counterpart Guðni Th. Jóhannesson
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met in Reykjavik with the President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson. The two officials met on the eve of the day on which we mark 28 years of diplomatic relations with Iceland - 17 May, informs the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova.
"We discussed with President Jóhannesson the bilateral cooperation between our countries and welcomed the conclusion of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement with EFTA, which is to be signed in June and will allow us to increase trade," the head of state said.
Iceland holds the presidency of the Council of Europe, and the organisation's fourth summit is now taking place in Reykjavik. In this context, President Maia Sandu also spoke with her counterpart about the complicated situation in our region, reiterating Moldova's commitment to contribute to maintaining peace and security in the region.
