SSC: European Union Partnership Mission to Moldova approved

A European Union Partnership Mission (EUPM Moldova) will be established in the Republic of Moldova under the aegis of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The establishment of this mission was approved today by the members of the Committee on Exceptional Situations, who met in a meeting.

According to a government statement, the mission will contribute to strengthening the resilience of Moldova's security sector in the area of crisis management and hybrid threats, including cyber security and countering foreign intelligence manipulation and foreign interference.

The document also states that until an Agreement with the EU on the status of the Mission is negotiated and signed, its staff, premises, assets and funds will benefit from the privileges and immunities applicable to diplomatic missions.

At the end of April, the European Council decided to establish an EU Partnership Mission to Moldova (EUPM Moldova) under the Common Security and Defence Policy.

Andrei Cecoltan, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, told Radio Moldova earlier that the mission will work in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and other law enforcement institutions in Moldova.
