The Party of Socialists announced its intention to nominate a candidate for Chisinau City Hall
The Party of Socialists will have a candidate for Chisinau mayor. The announcement was made by the party's executive secretary, Igor Dodon, on Thursday at a briefing in front of Chisinau City Hall.
He noted that several projects were carried out in the municipality at the initiative of the socialists, which the current mayor subsequently took on.
"The Party of Socialists will have a socialist candidate in the next municipal elections. We want to continue the implementation of the PSRM programme in Chisinau municipality," the party's executive secretary said.
General local elections will be held in Moldova this autumn. The exact date of the elections is to be set by the Central Electoral Commission 70 days in advance. According to some experts, they could be held on 29 October or 5 November. The term of office for local elected representatives is 4 years, and the last local elections were held in 2019.
Several parties have announced their intention to put forward candidates for the post of mayor of Chisinau, but without naming the individuals.
