The EU Foreign Affairs Council meets in Brussels: Support for Ukraine on the agenda

The European Union's Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) is convening in Brussels with topics such as Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Western Balkans, the Horn of Africa region, the Civil Compact in the field of CSFP, etc., on the agenda, announced the Council of the European Union.

The meeting will be chaired by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles.

On Monday, May 22, the EU foreign affairs ministers will discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Western Balkans, and the Horn of Africa. Under the current affairs section, the Council will address, among other things, issues related to Central Asia, Tunisia, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

On the second day, Tuesday, May 23, the Foreign Affairs Council will be held with the Union's defence ministers, focusing the discussions on EU support for Ukraine.

It is expected that the ministers responsible will approve, on this day, the Civil Compact in the field of CSFP (Common Security and Defense Policy), as well as the conclusions regarding the EU's cyber defence policy and the humanitarian funding gap.

The previous formal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council took place on April 24, 2023. The EU foreign ministers established the EU Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova) within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSFP).
