The ruling party will promote in Parliament the introduction of European integration into the Constitution, and those who were sceptical will become more convinced of our European path after the "European Moldova" Assembly on Sunday, said Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament, on our radio station's "Morning with Radio Moldova" programme. At the same time, Igor Grosu specified the next steps to be taken by both the government and the citizens in order to be closer to accession to the European Union.

Yesterday, the participants of the "European Moldova" Assembly unanimously adopted a seven-point Resolution, the fulfilment of which would help our country to become a full member of the European Union. The first point calls for the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, so as to establish that accession to the European Union is definitive and irreversible.

"In the medium and long term, these are the objectives that were outlined in the final resolution. In the short term, we continue to do our homework so that at the end of this year, 2023, we can achieve the opening of accession negotiations. There are a few more events and the summit to come. It is a first, a historic event in Moldova. It hosts so many prime ministers and presidents of European Union countries. We will show that we can be hospitable as we are told, good organizers, European", said Igor Grosu.

The European Political Community (EPC) Summit will be held in Moldova on 1 June.

Around 50 heads of state and government, as well as leaders of the European Union, are expected to attend the event. During the second European Political Community Summit, which will take place in Bulboaca, officials will discuss joint efforts for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine and related crises, the defence of democracy, the strengthening of energy security and the resilience of European states.

Earlier, President Maia Sandu said that this event is a historic one, which places Moldova at the table of European states and represents an important investment in the future of our country.
