The Republic of Moldova and Georgia resume discussions on reintegration issues, after a four-year break
The Republic of Moldova and Georgia resumed, on December 12, discussions on aspects of the peaceful and political settlement of conflicts, after a four-year break. The subjects were addressed online by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, and the Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of the Republic of Georgia, Tea Akhvlediani. According to the Reintegration Policy Office, the dialogue was relaunched in the context of ensuring the continuity of the trilateral cooperation platform between the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, initiated in 2018.
"The dialogue was a good opportunity to review the current situation with regard to the files under management and to outline the prospects for strengthening the interaction in the segments of responsibility," announces the Reintegration Office. According to the source, during the discussions, the interlocutors addressed aspects of the peaceful and political settlement of conflicts on the territories of the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, the efforts to restore territorial integrity within the limits of internationally recognized borders, but also expressed the availability of joint conferences, focused including on the management of regional conflicts, in particular those in the Black Sea basin. In this context, the officials expressed full receptivity in favor of an active and productive dialogue between the signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding and mutual cooperation of December 19, 2018 and the organization of mutual events/visits in the near future, with the participation of government officials and teams of relevant institutions , carrying out the exchange of best practices in the field of the country's reintegration policies. The reintegration office announces that the Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian emphasized, during the discussions, the existence in Chisinau of full openness in order to develop cooperation on various aspects of mutual interest and to strengthen efforts in synchronization with relevant external partners to overcome existing difficulties and challenges.
