The government has simplified the EU fuel import procedure
Gasoline and diesel will be imported into the Republic of Moldova from the member states of the European Union without drawing up an inspection report recognized by the Moldovan authorities. The government decided to simplify the fuel import procedure, reads a press release from the Executive.
"In the case of direct import from producers in the EU member states, the documents confirming the quality of the petroleum products will be recognized, without the need for mandatory sampling on the customs territory of the Republic of Moldova. In case the essential oil products originate from third countries, it is mandatory to obtain an inspection report from specialised institutions, recognized by the authorised authority of the Republic of Moldova", according to the Government.
State control over compliance with technical specifications for the main fuels placed on the market will be carried out by the State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection.
In 2021, Romania had a share of 99.35% of the total imported gasoline. This trend is explained by the presence on the domestic market of oil companies that have their own refineries in the neighbouring state, but also due to the short distance, which allows import by road and rail at affordable costs.
