Maia Sandu: We need support in creating mechanisms for rapid response to crises
"The Republic of Moldova needs support to create functional mechanisms for rapid response to crises and reduce the degree of vulnerability of the country", said the president of the country, Maia Sandu, in the context of the war in the neighbourhood, during today's meeting with the vice-president of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Anna Bjerde.
"As one of the main concerns is energy security, the restructuring of this sector is required, in order to diversify energy sources, to be able to access them at reasonable prices and to increase investments in renewable sources", said the head of state, Maia Sandu.
The President appreciated the collaboration we have with the World Bank in key areas, such as education, agriculture and the improvement of public services. The head of state emphasised that, in these difficult conditions, it is important to strengthen the capacities of public institutions in the Republic of Moldova. "Similarly, we need to rapidly develop other sectors that facilitate economic growth, such as IT and digitization," a press release from the Presidency states.
