The Ambassador of the Russian Federation, urgently summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a representative of the Russian administration from the occupied Kherson region threatened the Republic of Moldova
"The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns the recent statements of a representative of the Russian Federation from Kherson, a Ukrainian territory under Russian occupation, in which our country was directly threatened", reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announces that it will urgently summon the Russian ambassador to Chisinau and will request the appropriate explanations.
The head of the Russian administration of the occupied territory of the Kherson region, Vladimir Solido, threatened that Russia could target the Giurgiulesti bridge with missiles, after last night the Ciongar bridge, which connects the Kherson region with Crimea, was attacked with Ukrainian missiles.
"Another senseless attack by the Kiev regime on instructions from London. It does not change the results of the "special military operation". It proves to be the beginning of the end for the Kiev regime. Another greeting from the heart: we know the coordinates of the bridges in the Odesa region and the Giurgiulesti bridge, which once belonged to Ukraine, but were handed over by the Yushchenko regime. A very serious answer will come very soon," said Solido, in a video intervention.
"Such statements are totally unacceptable. We will not tolerate such language directed against the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will summon, as an emergency, the head of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova, requesting appropriate explanations", said Igor Zaharov, the advisor on communication to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu.
The Galați - Giurgiulesti road bridge connects Romania and the Republic of Moldova. It contributes to the flow of traffic between the two states and, at the same time, increases the role of the Republic of Moldova as a link between the EU and Ukraine.
