The European Union supports the financing of three joint Moldovan-Romanian projects
The European Commission approved the Decision regarding the granting of financing for three Moldovan-Romanian projects. The financing is intended for the development of the cross-border infrastructure Ungheni (MD) - Ungheni (RO), Leușeni (MD) - Albița (RO) and Giurgiulești (MD) - Galați (RO), informs the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.
"With the plenary support of the members of the Committee, all 3 projects promoted by the Republic of Moldova jointly with Romania were approved, and the official communication of the decision is to be sent soon, through diplomatic channels", states the cited source.
The projects in question aim at the development of road and customs infrastructure at the Ungheni-Ungheni, Leușeni-Albita and Giurgiulești-Galați border crossing points.
"Infrastructure capacity, interoperability and service efficiency will be improved at these border crossing points that ensure a continuous flow of goods and people traffic, including humanitarian ones, supporting our country's accessibility to the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), the backbone of the European Union economy", explains the Customs Service. The joint Moldovan-Romanian projects provide for the construction of the Ungheni (MD) - Ungheni (RO) customs post infrastructure; the modernization of the Leușeni-Albita customs post (the cargo sector) and the modernization of the Giurgiulești - Galați customs post. The total value of the projects is over 90 million euros, the contribution of the European Union is over 45 million euros.
