Nicu Popescu, meeting with his Danish counterpart: We emphasized our interest in deepening cooperation in the economic field
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, had a meeting with his Danish counterpart, Lars Løkke Rasmussen. During the discussions, various topics were addressed, such as the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the deepening of cooperation in the economic field.
Nicu Popescu emphasized that the Republic of Moldova is committed to respecting and implementing the three fundamental criteria of the European Union: democracy, freedom and respect for human rights; a functional and competitive market economy; and the implementation of the acquis communautaire.
"In this sense, I referred to my intervention in the General Affairs Council of the EU, where I stated that we are working in an accelerated regime on the implementation of the six recommendations, in the context in which three recommendations are considered fully fulfilled by the Commission. Our objective is to launch the accession negotiations by the end of this year and we count on Denmark's support", the Foreign Minister said.
The discussions also focused on the evolution of Moldovan-Danish relations and our country's interest in deepening cooperation in the economic field.
In the last year, according to Nicu Popescu, several Danish companies have expressed their intention or even initiated business in the Republic of Moldova. These include a company specializing in the production of fiberglass tanks and another company focused on developing robots for study and research.
