Today, an extraordinary meeting of the National Aviation Security Committee (NACS) took place, where it was decided to create a working group of experts in the field of security and public order, with the participation of all institutions competent in the field of aviation security.
Thus, a set of decisions, recommendations and proposals is to be developed, aimed at ensuring the proper conduct of airport activities and ensuring an adequate level of security and public order at Chisinau International Airport.
The airport has resumed normal operations after yesterday's attack, and the arrivals terminal has been opened to traffic. The Border Police announces that the level of mobilisation at the airport has been increased to ensure security and public order.
Following yesterday's attack, a border policeman and an airport security employee were killed in a gunfight.
The assailant, a Tajik national, was injured and is in serious condition in hospital. He faces life imprisonment.
The Moldovan leadership expressed its condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and gave assurances that it will increase public order security measures so that similar incidents do not occur again.
