More than $61,000 will be allocated to repair the "Stefan cel Mare" Theoretical High School in Drochia. The money has been provided by the Government of Japan under the "Kusanone" programme. Five classrooms, the hall and the sanitary blocks will be repaired in this school. At the same time, the electricity and ventilation system will be replaced.
The project will contribute to the creation of optimal conditions for the smooth running of the educational process and the expansion of the offer of studies and activities for students. The beneficiaries are 536 pupils, 78 teachers and technical staff of the high school.
"We will greatly improve a sector of the high school to create better conditions for students and employees and for the population around the high school. The news that Stefan cel Mare High School has won the Kusanone project has spread very quickly and everyone is overjoyed", says the high school principal Svetlana Capcelea.
The renovated premises will house classrooms for foreign languages, history and education for society, as well as for optional subjects and extracurricular activities.
"Japan has been Moldova's partner in the education sector for many years. The Government of Japan is proud to collaborate with you, to stand by your side and play a modest role in this difficult but honourable journey until the day when the Republic of Moldova joins the European Union," said Japan's Ambassador to Chisinau, Yoichiro Yamada.
So far, Japan has provided over $7 million in grant funding for 85 projects in the fields of education, health and public utilities.
