Moldovan footballer Cătălin Carp, first victory after returning to the Romanian championship
Moldovan footballer Cătălin Carp played his first match with victory after returning to the Romanian championship. His club team, UTA Arad, narrowly beat Politehnica Iasi 1-0 in the fourth round of the Superleague.
Slovak midfielder Andrej Fabry scored the only goal of the match in the 9th minute. Cătălin Carp started for the hosts and was booked in the 13th minute. The Moldovan midfielder was substituted after half-time in the 54th minute. Another Moldovan international, goalkeeper Dumitru Celeadnic, was a substitute for the Iasi team.
In another match of the same round, Universitatea Craiova also defeated FC Hermannstadt Sibiu 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Andrei Ivan from the penalty spot in the 16th minute.
Thus, Universitatea Craiova remained unbeaten in this edition of the championship and FC Hermannstadt suffered its second defeat.
