South-East European Summit reaffirms support for Ukraine and Moldova amidst regional security talks
Dignitaries and high-ranking officials representing the South-East European region convened in Athens for a pivotal assembly centred around bolstering regional security. At the heart of the discussions lay an emphatic reconfirmation of support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, underscoring solidarity amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics. The resolute stance was made evident through a press release issued by the Romanian Government.
Integral to the deliberations was the unanimous consensus on the critical nature of sustaining open lines of communication and seamless cooperation pertaining to both regional security concerns and the realm of economic collaboration.
The summit's structured format facilitated exhaustive dialogues that yielded an intricate analysis of recent developments casting a shadow over the security landscape of the Black Sea. The intensified aerial onslaught by Russian armed forces against key Ukrainian infrastructural assets cast a grim hue over the deliberations.
Among the esteemed attendees were luminaries of international standing, including Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Volodimir Zelenski, President of Ukraine, and Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova. Notably, the gathering included the leadership from Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia, and Bulgaria.
Parallel to the main proceedings, President Maia Sandu engaged in bilateral discussions with the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, and Croatia, amplifying the avenue for multifaceted engagement.
Taking to Twitter, President Sandu's poignant message emphasised the Republic of Moldova's ardent desire to forge closer bonds with these allied nations, while also embarking on uncharted pathways of collaboration.
