Moldova remains steadfast in its commitment to peace, unity, and a future without terror.
Today it turns 22 years since the attacks committed by members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network in New York and Washington. Almost three thousand people died when terrorists hijacked 4 planes. Three weeks after the attacks, the West began the fight against terrorism, which continues today.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger planes.
The terrorist attacks targeted three important buildings in the USA - the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington. The fourth plane crashed in a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania, missing its target, the White House.
