Maia Sandu and Nicu Popescu to attend UN General Assembly
President Maia Sandu will lead the Republic of Moldova's delegation to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, starting today, as well as a series of other related events. Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu is also part of the delegation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) announced.
During the meeting, which promotes effective multilateral diplomacy, the national delegation will discuss the impact of the Russian war against Ukraine on the region, the country's contribution to regional stability, and the reform agenda on our irreversible path to the European Union.
Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu's agenda includes participation in a series of multilateral meetings organized in this context.
At the same time, the head of diplomacy in Chisinau will also have a series of bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and senior officials from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the presence of Minister Nicu Popescu in New York will provide the opportunity for dialogue with representatives of Jewish organisations to reaffirm, on this occasion, the commitment to combating antisemitism as well as promoting knowledge and strengthening education in the field of the Holocaust.
