Google to donate $1 million to Moldovan cybersecurity
Google has announced that it will donate $1 million to Moldova to help the country improve its cybersecurity and promote digital literacy. The announcement was made by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who is currently in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly.
Sandu said that the new partnership was facilitated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She also said that the Moldovan government is committed to building a favourable ecosystem for the development of technology, and that Google is an essential partner in this effort.
The $1 million donation will be used to support a number of initiatives, including:
- Training for government officials on cybersecurity best practices
- Development of educational resources on digital literacy
- Support for the creation of a cybersecurity centre of excellence
Sandu said that the donation is a sign of Google's commitment to Moldova's development. She also said that the partnership will help Moldova to become more resilient to cyber threats and to create a more inclusive digital society.
