The parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) announced on September 25 that it will introduce a motion of no confidence against the government.

The motion is based on a number of economic problems, including a falling national economy, a bankrupt agriculture sector, and a historic high in public debt.

BCS vice-president Vlad Batrîncea made the announcement at a press briefing. He said that the government's policies have led to a crisis in the Moldovan economy.

"The national economy is in free fall, agriculture is on the verge of bankruptcy," Batrîncea said. "The public debt of the Republic of Moldova has reached historic highs. We didn't have such figures even in the 1990s. All these loans that the government is taking, no one will forgive them. All these materials and analyses will serve as the basis for the motion of no confidence that we have announced that we will be submitting against the current government."

The government has dismissed the BCS's motion as "political statements." In a comment to Moldova1, government spokesperson Daniel Vodă said that the government has launched a program called "Spor pentru Moldova" (Growth for Moldova), which includes salary increases, one-time payments, and funding for priority projects.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean reiterated that the government is committed to helping citizens and has a concrete plan for social and economic development.

The BCS is expected to submit the motion of no confidence at the next session of Parliament.
