Moldova's embassy in Israel on high alert after security situation deteriorates
Moldova's embassy in Israel has been placed on high alert following the deterioration of the security situation in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) said in a statement.
In response, the MAEIE has created a crisis cell to monitor the security situation in Israel and to be in constant contact with the embassy and other relevant institutions.
The ministry also reiterated the importance of strictly following the security instructions issued by Israeli authorities. For any questions or assistance, Moldovan citizens are asked to contact the embassy in Israel or the ministry's emergency line.
At the same time, authorities in Chisinau said they have no information about Moldovan citizens who may have been taken prisoner or killed in the attack by the terrorist organisation Hamas on Israel.
"The Moldovan embassy has received about 30 requests for information from our citizens regarding the status of commercial flights," the MAEIE statement said. "Our citizens are being guided and assisted in these efforts by the embassy's diplomatic staff."
The source also noted that the country's main airport, Ben Gurion, is operating normally, and flights are being operated from Terminal 3. Israel's airspace is open. The MAEIE said that one of the two Moldovan airlines is continuing to operate commercial flights as scheduled.
As an alternative, Moldovan citizens can use commercial routes to Bucharest. The next commercial flights on the Tel Aviv-Chisinau route are scheduled for October 10, 11, 12, and 15.
