Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice: "Moldova has made very good progress in justice reform"
The Republic of Moldova has made significant progress in the justice reform, said the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, at the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The European official referred to some processes taking place within the reform, such as the vetting, but also to the establishment of an anti-corruption court.
"The real problem is that we need to act quickly in the reform process in the Republic of Moldova, and at the same time we need to ensure full alignment with European standards. That is why, it is important to follow the recommendations of the Venice Commission. So, we are trying to maintain this balance, but we are confident that very good progress is being made in the Republic of Moldova and we are following it carefully", emphasized Didier Reynders.
The Vice-President of the Chisinau Parliament, Mihail Popșoi, expressed his appreciation for the support given by the European partners to our country in the implementation of reforms regarding the rule of law.
"Despite the Russian aggressions of the Russian Federation on Ukraine and the attempts of the oligarchs who fled from Moldovan justice to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova, the governing majority is fully committed to the reform of the rule of law, democracy and the improvement of the state of Moldovan citizens", concluded Mihail Popșoi.
We remind that a delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is participating in the autumn session of the PACE, which is held in Strasbourg.
