Nicu Popescu: An unfriendly gesture by the Russian Federation. "Casa Rusă din Chisinau" sends propaganda textbooks
Several textbooks in which the history of the Russian Federation is presented in a propagandistic manner have reached the Transnistrian region. These would be among the almost 2,500 books and didactic materials sent to Tiraspol last week by "Casa Rusă din Chisinau".
The authors of history textbooks present the war launched by Moscow against Ukraine as a "special denazification operation" and the illegal annexation of Crimea as "territorial reunification".
The Chisinau authorities condemn this action contrary to national interests.
"It is an unfriendly gesture from the Russian Federation. One of the multiple unfriendly gestures undertaken in relation to the Republic of Moldova recently. Obviously, we condemn this additional effort to promote some false narratives in the Republic of Moldova, contrary to our national interests and contrary to the truth. The capacity of the Ministry to regulate and to ensure that the same manuals that are used on the other side of the Republic of Moldova are also used in the Transnistrian region is minimal. I assume that these textbooks were also sent through diplomatic channels", declared the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun.
Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, claims that Chisinau will intervene to find out how it was possible for the textbooks to reach Tiraspol.
"Such situations once again denote a defiance and an unfriendly gesture initiated by the Russian Federation towards the citizens of this country. We will elucidate the circumstances under which this happened and come back with ways to not allow such totally unacceptable gestures, which do nothing to maintain calm and stability."
From the images published by "Casa Rusă din Chisinau" it can be seen that among the textbooks that arrived in the Transnistrian region is a textbook titled "The History of the Motherland", which presents the history of the Russian state from 1917 to the present. In the 2023 edition of the textbook the section "Modern Russia" was introduced, in which the most recent events in the country's history are mentioned. Since the summer of last year, the Russian Ministry of Education has proposed introducing into history textbooks the war waged by Russia in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, which in the already updated books they are called "special operation" and "territorial reintegration".
