36 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip were evacuated and are safe
After a period full of uncertainty and negotiations, 36 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip have been evacuated and are safe. Our citizens crossed the Rafah border crossing today and are now on their way to Cairo. President Maia Sandu announced about it in a post on Facebook.
The citizens of the Republic of Moldova are now in the care of the consular official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who took them at the crossing point. They benefit from consular assistance and the organization of the next stage of their journey to the Republic of Moldova.
From Cairo, our citizens will be transported to Bucharest, together with the Romanian citizens, with a special flight organized by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and later will be picked up by a coach provided by the authorities.
"I am grateful to all those who worked tirelessly on this complex evacuation process: the employees of our embassies in Israel and Turkey, the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, colleagues from the other institutions involved, as well as our strategic partners, Romania, Ukraine and the United States of America. Thanks to this joint effort, our citizens are safe", said Maia Sandu.
