TRM launches "Support for Ukrainian Refugees through Media" project. TV and Radio broadcasting for, with and by Ukrainian refugees to be produced

The Public Broadcaster ”Teleradio - Moldova” is proud to announce the launch of the "Support for Ukrainian Refugees through Media" project, which is also being implemented in Romania and Slovakia. The project is developed by UNESCO with generous funding from the Government of Japan, as part of the UN-wide Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRRP) for the Ukraine Situation, coordinated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Through the "Support for Ukrainian Refugees through Media" project TRM aims to empower Ukrainian refugees by increasing their access to reliable information on key topics of interest and concern, such as humanitarian assistance coordinated by authorities and partners. TRM is committed to enhancing the self-reliance and resilience of the refugee community while fostering a peaceful co-existence with the local communities.

As part of the project, TRM will reinforce news segments and create programs in Ukrainian that are specifically designed for and by Ukrainian refugees. This inclusive approach will ensure that the voices, experiences, and perspectives of Ukrainian refugees are heard and valued.

TRM will engage Ukrainian media professionals, such as journalists, editors, TV hosts, camerapersons, photographers, and sound technicians, to collaborate with our editorial team throughout the project. By fostering this collaboration, we aim to create content that is authentic, representative, and relevant to the Ukrainian refugee community.

Furthermore, TRM is committed to establishing and managing audience consultative mechanisms to handle suggestions related to editorial content or programs concerning Ukrainian refugees. We believe that feedback from the audience is invaluable in shaping our content and ensuring its responsiveness to the needs of the community.

In addition, TRM will extend support to colleagues from private media organizations involved in the project. We will provide guidance to up to 5 private media organizations to enhance their segments and programs for refugees. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that a wider range of media platforms effectively address the needs and interests of Ukrainian refugees.

Through the "Support for Ukrainian Refugees through Media" project, TRM reaffirms its commitment to utilizing media as a powerful tool for communication, integration, and support. We are dedicated to providing accurate and relevant information to empower Ukrainian refugees, foster social cohesion, and promote understanding among diverse populations.

By leveraging our expertise and resources, TRM will work hand in hand with UNESCO to provide meaningful support to Ukrainian refugees. The collaboration between TRM and UNESCO embodies the shared commitment to fostering media development and advancing the principles of freedom of expression.
