State of emergency was extended for another 30 days

The state of emergency was extended for another 30 days, starting on December 1. A decision in this respect was voted during the Parliament session with the vote of 60 deputies.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, said that the need to extend the state of emergency was determined by the persistent risks to the security of our country, as a result of the war in Ukraine.

"It is expected that during the cold season, with a high probability, the Russian Armed Forces (FAR) will intensify attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, and at this time a trend of intensifying FAR drone attacks is noticed.

The potential attacks on the energy infrastructure could have repercussions on the supply of electricity in the Republic of Moldova, given the need to use Ukrainian networks for importing electricity through the ENTSO-E network and the Cuciurgan infrastructure.

The intentions of the development of Russian military aggression in the southern part of Ukraine continue to have consequences on the national security of the Republic of Moldova and continue to involve increased attention from our national authorities. In the event of the intensification of combat actions, a resumption of the flow of migrants from Ukraine is possible, with severe consequences," reads the project's informative note.

The last time, the state of emergency was extended by the Parliament in September 2023. The state of emergency was established on February 24, 2022 and was extended since then several times, the previous project in this respect was voted in the Parliament on September 21 with 60 days.
