Yellow code for strong winds across the country valid until midday
The yellow strong wind code is valid throughout the country until today at 1:00 p.m., the State Hydrometeorological Service announces. So far, the police intervened in 165 cases of unblocking people in difficulty. The State Administration of Roads advises drivers not to hidrive unless there is an urgent need.
Meteorologists announce that the wind will continue to blow with intensity until noon.
"Intensification of the northwest wind in gusts of up to 15-20 m/s is expected," the State Hydrometeorological Service states.
The air temperature in the morning hours will be -1 degree Celsius. The mild weather will warm up towards noon, indicating 0 degrees Celsius. In the evening, the temperature will drop to -2 degrees Celsius.
Thus, drivers are urged to pay more attention when entering and exiting bridges and crossing large vehicles.
Experts also advise drivers to avoid stopping or standing next to roadside trees, which strong winds can uproot.
Given the weather conditions, the Chisinau Emergency Situations Commission (CSE) decided that students from schools in the capital, including art schools, will stay at home on Monday, and lessons will be recovered later.
