A man from Grigoriopol, wanted internationally 19 years ago, for murder and blackmail, was detained in the Russian Federation and was extradited to the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Police, the 54-year-old suspect, in 2001, together with other people, attacked four men from Grigoriopol. The fight allegedly broke out because the men refused to pay the $5,000 annual protection fee. Law enforcement officials say they had been in conflict for several years.
Thus, following the beating, a man died, and the suspect was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
He was extradited with the involvement of INI officers.
